Yapı Kredi Yayınları tarafından iki ayda bir yayımlanan "Sanat Dünyamız" dergisi 50. yaşını bir dizi etkinlikle kutlamaya devam ediyor. “Zor Zamanlar / İnce Mevzular” başlıklı buluşmada izleyiciler günümüz koşullarındaki zorlu konulara ilişkin düşündürücü bir tartışmaya davet ediliyor. Bu kapsamda Tarabya Kültür Akademisi’nin konuğu, yazar, tarihçi ve editör Ingo Arend; sanat eleştirmeni, denemeci ve romancı Kaya Genç; gazeteci, sunucu ve podcast yapımcısı Hazal Sipahi bir araya geliyor.

Buluşmada, sanat yayıncılığının inceliklerine ve yayıncılık dünyasının değişen manzarasına ışık tutmak amaçlanıyor. Konukların zor konulardan ve hassas içeriklerden bahsederken geliştirdikleri stratejiler, metotlar ve pratiklerine yaklaşımları masaya yatırılıyor.

Bu etkinlik "Sanat Dünyamız" dergisi tarafından Tarabya Kültür Akademisi işbirliğiyle sunulmaktadır.

Bu etkinlik, I. Sanat Dünyamız Film Günleri ile başlatılan etkinliklerin bir parçasıdır.


Siyasetbilimci ve tarihçi Ingo Arend, 1990’lı yıllarda WDR için sanat, edebiyat ve kültür politikaları alanında haberler hazırladı, haftalık "Der Freitag" gazetesinde kültür sanat muhabirliği yaptı ve ardından aynı gazetede kültür sanat sayfası editörü ve yazı işleri müdürü olarak görev aldı. 2010 yılından bu yana Berlin’de bağımsız bir eleştirmen, yazar ve jüri üyesi olarak çeşitli görevlerde bulunan Arend, "taz"ın ve "Deutschlandfunk Kultur"un kültür sanat sayfaları için de çalışmalar hazırladı. 2011 yılında Berlin’deki Volksbühne sahnesinde, Türk-Alman edebiyat festivali dildile’nin ilkini düzenledi. 2015 ile 2023 yılları arasında nGbK kurulunda faal olan Arend, burada Berlin Kültür Senatosu ile birlikte bir değişim bursunu hayata geçirdi. Burs kapsamında İstanbul’da yaşayan sanatçılar yılda iki kez, altı aylığına Berlin’de ikamet edip çalışabiliyor. Arend, "Ästhetik und Demokratie" (Estetik ve Demokrasi) kitabının da yazarıdır.

Ingo Arend, Şubat ile Mayıs 2024 tarihleri arasında Tarabya Kültür Akademisi’nin konuk sanatçıları arasındadır.

Denemeci, sanat eleştirmeni ve romancı Kaya Genç "The Lion and the Nightingale: A Journey through Modern Turkey" (2019), "Under the Shadow: Rage and Revolution in Modern Turkey" (2016), "An Istanbul Anthology: Travel Writing through the Centuries" (2015) kitaplarını ve "Macera" (2008) romanını kaleme aldı. "The Economist", "Under the Shadow"u ‘taze ve dengeli bir yaklaşıma’ sahip olduğu için övdü ve "Foreign Policy", "The Lion and the Nightingale"i "Türkiye’yi Anlamak için Gerekli 6 Kitap"tan biri olarak gösterdi. Kaya, "The New York Times", "The New York Review of Books", "The Times Literary Supplement" ve "The Nation"da çıkan kapak yazıları ve "The New Yorker", "The Paris Review", "The Guardian", "The Financial Times", "The New Statesman"ve "The London Review of Books"ta yayımlanan deneme ve makaleler de dahil olmak üzere dünyanın önde gelen dergi ve gazetelerine katkıda bulundu. Kaya’nın güncel sanat üzerine eleştiri ve deneme yazıları ABD’de "Artforum" ve İngiltere’de "ArtReview" dergilerinde yayımlanıyor. Bugünlerde yeni romanı üzerinde çalışıyor.

Gazeteci, sunucu ve podcast yapımcısı Hazal Sipahi T24’te "Yayınlanması Kaydıyla" podcast’ini ve "Ayrık Otu" video röportaj programını, Podbee Media’da "Mental Klitoris" podcast’ini sunmaya devam ediyor. Hazal Sipahi aynı zamanda Gerçek Eşitlik Nerede Derneği’nin yönetim kurulu üyesidir.

“Difficult Times / Delicate Issues” - A Conversation with Ingo Arend, Kaya Genç, and Hazal Sipahi
 

"Sanat Dünyamız", published bimonthly by Yapı Kredi Publishing, continues its 50th-anniversary celebration with a series of thought-provoking events. In the upcoming meeting, the magazine invites the audience to join a stimulating discussion on navigating challenging issues in today's context. The event will feature writer, historian, and editor and guest of Tarabya Cultural Academy, Ingo Arend, essayist, critic and novelist Kaya Genç, and journalist, presenter, and podcast producer Hazal Sipahi.

The aim of the gathering is to explore the nuances of art publishing and the evolving landscape of the publishing. Participants will delve into strategies, methods, and approaches developed for addressing difficult topics and sensitive content.

This event is presented by "Sanat Dünyamız" magazine in collaboration with Tarabya Cultural Academy.

This event is part of the ongoing activities initiated with the I. Sanat Dünyamız Film Days.

Political scientist and historian Ingo Arend began to work for WDR as a culture journalist for the visual arts, literature, and cultural politics in the 90’s. He went on to become cultural editor for the weekly newspaper "Der Freitag", later becoming head of the culture desk and then editor-in-chief. Since 2010, he has worked as a freelance critic, author, and juror, with intermittent tenures at the culture desks of "taz" and "Deutschlandfunk Kultur". In 2011, he founded the Turkish-German literature festival dildile at the Berliner Volksbühne theatre. From 2015 to 2023, he served on the board of the gallery neue Gesellschaft für bildende Kunst (nGbK) in Berlin. It was there that, together with the Department of Culture of the Berlin Senate, he established an exchange fellowship that, twice a year, brings Istanbul-based artists to live and work for six months in Berlin. He is the author of the blog "Ästhetik und Demokratie".

Ingo Arend is a resident at the Tarabya Cultural Academy from February until May 2024.

Author Kaya Genç’s books include "The Lion and the Nightingale: A Journey through Modern Turkey" (2019), "Under the Shadow: Rage and Revolution in Modern Turkey" (2016), "An Istanbul Anthology: Travel Writing through the Centuries" (2015) and the novel "Macera" (2008). "The Economist" called "Under the Shadow" a ‘refreshingly balanced’ book. Kaya as contributed to the world’s leading journals and newspapers, published front page stories in "The New York Times", "The New York Review of Books" and "The Times Literary Supplement", and essays and articles in "The New Yorker", "The Nation", "The Paris Review", "The Guardian", "The Financial Times", "The New Statesman" and "The London Review of Books". His essays and reviews on contemporary art appear in "Artforum" in the US and in "ArtReview" in the UK. He is currently at work on his second novel in Turkish.

Journalist, presenter and podcast producer Hazal Sipahi continues to host the podcast "Yayınlanması Kaydıyla" (On the Record) and the video interview program "Ayrık Otu" on T24 and the podcast "Mental Klitoris" on Podbee Media. Hazal Sipahi is also a board member of the Association for Struggle Against Sexual Violence.
